Re: Well, we've come such a long way since then...NOT!
It seems that way, Kabu! And I shall definitely visit you guys in the spring, when the glaciers and polar bears have retreated from your area! Right now I just can't tear myself away from the beaches here in sunny Southern Ontario...

Re: What a relief Naut
You're welcome, lindo!  And about Omar, he didn't actually burn the library, or even the books. By all accounts, he had just taken the books out (remember, they were all rolls) and used the paper for all kinds of things, maybe wrapping sandwiches...

So when do we see you up here for a visit?

Maybe it's true, nothing new under the sun.
We've always been heartless bastards who feasted before we threw the bodies in the pit. A society's got to have its priorities...

What a relief Naut

I must admit that when i read the first sentence i was frightened out of my wits : slaughter, enemy, heaved bodies. " Oh God, what have we done now???".. You know we're so used to our country's name being associated with terrorism and violence it is quite a shock to be mentioned in a non-political context.

Thank you,

P.s. you might like to read my response to your comment on the issue of the burning of the library of Alexandria.

The sum of all changes is constant
... or perhaps a strong belief in re-living history.
