Re: That's exactly why ...
It is a fascinating journey!  I have been on it most of my life, and it is rarely dull or tedious--though there are those swamps one may not enjoy all that much, but must go through to get to the firm land on the other side.

Gomedome, it is the phenomenon of core beliefs:
They operate on a cultural as well as an individual level, each new set of beliefs founded upon earlier ones conclusions.  And it is just as relevant to go back and review now and then, to either reaffirm or update.

That's exactly why ...
...I want to go beyond the stories of I can. There are answers that haven't been explored and I'm on a journey to find them.

Ciel - thanx for the mention and the link

You touch on the countless variations of the same themes as found in numerous ancient mythologies by mentioning virgin birth. It's rather amazing how many virgin births there were back then? The paternal hierarchal structure amongst the gods is another constant you touch on. It seems that all of the omnipotent fellows of all cultures are depicted as wise old males unless there was some nurturing aspect involved in the mythology, where these entities invariably were depicted as specimen females at the later stages of their child bearing years. We have been conditioned to accept these depictions without interjecting the obvious questions. Because as religious dogma tells us; God is eternal and omnipotent, the age of this being would be irrelevant. He could be depicted as a newborn baby with just as much relevance.

I don't mean to wander off the topic of this post but I always find it interesting how our modern day perceptions are so influenced by ancient observations. There is no doubt that what has been handed down to us is the condensed, homogenized and filtered versions of countless similar stories.
