I hope you get to go to Germany too, IR. On my Dad's side of the family, we're a quarter German (as you obviously read in my post...DOH!) but Germany is one place I've never really fancied seeing. (We're also Jewish on Dad's side, though he won't admit or tolerate that truth, which makes me incredibly sad).
Mind you, I don't by any means blame all Germans for the Holocaust...In fact, a good number of Germans stood up in the face of such unspeakable atrocities. To them, I give my thanks and applause.
I once had a friend from Germany. I was in third grade at the time. His name was Larz. Cutest little fellow you ever did see...Big green eyes (or at least, I think they were green...maybe blue????) flamming red hair and freckles all over the place.
Sadly, Larz left us in the middle of the school year, and I never saw or heard from him again.
I had another friend from Poland that I tried to help leave there, actually, but that's another story for another time.
Are you German, by the way?

lovely, Perhaps one day you will get to go. I keep wanting to go and visit
my many freinds I met in Germany over twenty years ago. One day I'll be able to make the wish a reality. I think it's the wondering of "Whatever Happened to..." plays a big part of it all. Peace
IR
