Interesting. I was once told by someone who claimed to know what he was talking about, that in Germany as well as Eastern European countries even many city folk still follow the cuisine of their farming ancestors...

When in.. doesn't seem to apply any more. I liked your post, I enjoy learning about others way of celebrating Christmas. We have utilized a German tradition of hiding the pickle on the tree. It has always been grand entertainment. sam
