Re: Culture shock!

Hmm.. I was mainly referring to an overseas student starting a student life at university campus and living on campus for the first time.. not a larger community e.g. a housing/city neighbourhood. That's why I felt that shock and clash were closer descriptions to the situation at that time, since there were no serious-alertness, racial/religion issues or hard-confrontations.. only habitual matters and background upbringing (or was I being too naive in observing the situation? ..Well, it was over 10 years ago when it happened).

However, I do agree with your opinion for stronger and more serious cases. Thanks :-)

Culture shock!
That may be true, but I would call it something else. Prejudice, for example. Because if a group of the same people moved into a neighborhood of like people, there would be no culture shock. There would be kinship. On the other hand, if a group of different folk moved into a neighborhood of different folk, then you have prejudice. Culture shock is just a name for what it really is. Why can't we just all get along? I love everybody but those who wish to harm me!
