Re: That is so beautiful...
Tithing works for anyone who will make a decision to really do it and expect results.  If you read Malachi 3:10 and 11, God says to prove Him in this.  That's the only place in the Bible that challenges us to prove God will do what He says.  If I were you, having seen what tithing has done for your girlfriend and reading my story, I'd think that you would want to put God to the test.  The challenge is that you have to make a decision to do it and stick with it.  The Bible also says that the tenth or the tithe already belongs to God and when you don't tithe, you are stealing from God and you are putting your finances under a curse.  I, for one, can't afford for my finances to be under a curse.  Maybe you can.

That is so beautiful...
... and I'm not one who believes in tithing. My girlfriend does though and she got a gift from God that took away a $90,000 debt from IRS. She was sending payments monthly of $50.00 and a couple of months ago, her payment was sent back. She called to find out what was the trouble because she didn't want penalties to accrue. She was told she didn't owe any more and that was why her payment was returned. She didn't ask any more questions and accepted her fate as a gift from God. So because of her, I think tithing really works for some people. Thanks for that tremendous story.

That's quite a post, Whimsy
I'm glad you made it through your time of "testing" and have come out as "refined".  Tithing is quite a controversial subject among believers.  I'm glad you have found the value in being obedient to Biblical teachings.  I was taught tithing as a child and it has always seemed, for me, just the natural thing to do.   If you take it out of your check first, you never miss it.
