Honesty can be a curse, Bill.
I've never been able to lie worth a damn -- some facial tic, or something, always gives me away. It sucks, because being a criminal can be fun.

I've heard of people doing that, Offy.
That used to be a very effective deterrent -- make the kids smoke until they chundered. For some reason, my folks didn't do that. I think they knoew I would have enjoyed that pack of smokes.

Good stuff Strat. I don't recommend ever becoming a criminal...you're too
honest. I know well that falling feeling in the pit of the stomach when I'd been caught as a kid doing something not right.

strat...how true! I can remember the time I too got caught with my mothers's cigs..Oh dear~ The difference was she made me and my brother sit down and smoke a whole pack...now for a kid that's only 8 I was as sick as an old woman who drank a 5th of JD....
Cute post and as always a great read (but than again look at the author)...

I was always too afraid of getting caught to even try anything.

I remember those Salems in my own pocket and my own mother's eyes...
she got the cigarettes, I got the belt and heard her famous "Just wait till your Dad gets home!"...so I waited and he came home and off came that belt for another round on the rounds...ouch doesn't even cover that experience!
Great post, fellow jaywalker...
