Since I'm not into wars or no much about them other than this crazy one we're in now, I found your article quite interesting. I love reading about the various religions and why people are so different in the name of God. But thank you again for dropping by. I left a response for you!

Re: Offy, the WWI vets are about all gone. The cease fire was 89 years ago
making anyone who was there over 100 today.

Wow...I saw on the news Saturday that the oldest WW 1 vet died at the age of 106 years...

Merry Christmas!

Re: This is some cool stuff, Wild Bill!
Strat - Glad to find another Robert Service fan. He spins a good yarn with just a hint of darkness in them

This is some cool stuff, Wild Bill!
I also noted, awhile back, that you're also a fellow Robert Service fan.

Re: FreeManWalking
TAPS - I've heard of a couple of other conscientious objectors having a similar experience. Doesn't sound like fun. But I think unlike your brother-in-law I don't think any of the writers I mentioned had any real convictions. I think they were all in that "I don't want to be bothered" crowd.

Interesting post.  Back in the 1960's I had a brother-in-law who was a Mennonite and an honest to goodness conscientious objector.   He spent his "military time" working in a Kansas State Mental Institution mopping floors and other menial tasks.   After his "service" was up, he finished his college education and has since been a landscape architect.
