We'll get there eventually

I worked for an oil and gas company for many years. In fact, my Dad owns one. I guess you could say, oil and gas is in my blood.

I totally agree that we'll eventually run out of oil, but I firmly believe that we'll be ready for it, whether the government is or not. Many people are already switching to alternate fuel sources. And guess who's heading up much of the research and engineering to make those alternate sources possible - the oil and gas companies. At least, the smart ones are. They know that they're dinosaurs, and are striving to find ways to keep their businesses running. Eventually, they'll change their names from "Oil and Gas Company" to "Windmill Guys", or something equally witty. Their engineers will stop looking for ways to drill holes, and become experts in other technologies. I've already seen changes - classes and courses are available in those fields, and attendance is steadily increasing.

As for the theory of Global Warming, I personally think it's 95% poop. Climate change is a natural part of the world. Will we have another ice age - most definitely. But it won't be the first one the earth has seen. And I think you'd have a hard time trying to argue that the previous Ice Age's were caused by man's destruction of the environment. Did we damage the environment - yep, we sure did. Do we need to start making more informed decisions, and protecting the natural resources that we have - of course. But are we the sole cause of the impending climate changes - nope. Most informed scientific minds will tell you the same thing.

What a learning experience!
I didn't know we had so many other forms of energy. Didn't that billionaire who owns an airline offer someone millions of dollars to come up with an alternative fuel source or did I hear that wrong. Sometimes you're listening but not really taking it all in if you know what I mean. Thanks for the info!

Wow!
I agree.  Very eye-opening remarks.  Keep up the good work.

These alternatives have been known for years but the political will is weak. Added to that the entrenched interests. Yet, ultimately, pragmatism will take over. Happy holidays.
