I don't see or feel there is definately nothing wrong with that at all, so keep it up. Who but ourselves can truly make ourself feel better when others are putting us down or trying to weaken ones self confidence.  It sure isn't a crime for one to tell ones self those things, though it's a crime to the soul when an other tries to take your personal worth away from you.  Keep smiling, that's good for one to. Thanks for the response Stars, always appreciated. Take care.

I agree, it is first necessary to recognize your own worth,
but I think it is also essential to our well-being to know that others see and acknowledge who we are and what we do in the world, at least some of the time.  Lack of appreciation causes a starvation of the heart, just as lack of nourishment starves the body.

Good advice, good post, eyeshaveears.
Sometimes our very best efforts won't even be noticed by others, but that does not negate the good we have done and it should make us feel good about ourselves.  Of course, everyone sould get a word of praise and appreciation now and then.  That is very good for everyone.  But, we shouldn't depend on it.

Ash

This is so Ash.  Isn't there also a saying that goes something like "What is gain without self-gain", something like that but works on the same principal. Thanks for your input. Take care and a blessed festive season all round.

Laydi

Yes it's true, who are we not to dream for ourselves or self praise, where is the true harm etc? AH, what a cute picture, a picture of Innocence gaining a new life, love it. Take care Laydi.

beautiful and necessary message. Mandela said similar things in his speech

when first elected the President of all voting South AFRICANS, BLACK, BROWN AND WHITE. Some say 'Why think of yourself as special, unique, full of potential and dreams of invincibility ...I say , who are you NOT to dream these big dreams.?' We are children of the Universe, made of the same STUFF thatgiant suns and stars are made of---earth,water, fire, air and ether -- as the Hindu Vedas say. S GH A L O M

Thoughts

Wow, I've never heard that saying, it so rings true, so thanks for sharing that input.  You are right, apart from ourselves, there is only one greater being that we should relish praise from and that is our Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ. Have a truly blessed festive season. I'm working my way through my reads, so will be passing your way at some stage. Take care.

Being appreciated
This reminds me of the saying," If you want to be seen, stand up. If you want to be heard, speak up. And if you want to be appreciated, sit down.

Being a mom is a thankless job many times over but God sees all that we do and he's the one I'm trying to impress anyway. Merry Christmas.
