Offy hon,
The United Church is an outfit that would rather be a party than a church, and for all practical purposes it is...

Re: Isn't Christmas ...
Ann, in this case it seems a lot of people forgot everything and forgave nothing...

Yes, Rumored, it certainly sets the precedent for all manner of interesting possibilities...

That's what I would like to know, what the heck went on there. But what they did, essentially, was 'dissolve' the congregation. They will still celebrate this Christmas, but after that it's curtains. Their won't be a resurrection for Easter! And all this is happening in your neck of the woods! It ain't Lotusland for nothing!

You're right, they do have all kinds of strange habits (no pun intended, lol,) including women ministers. One of whom declared that she doesn't believe in God...

I agree Pat, it might make for some juicy copy! Plenty for another book...

The Dems left wing? YIKES, that's enough to make me run! Still, it's a church not a political party right?

congregations..what a concept!,..lol...maybe it will catch on in sports and a lousy team will get canned instead of the poor coach who doesnt even play.....

Does this mean a teacher can fire an unruly class?

Or a hospital can fire the patients?

Maybe what we have here is a failure to understand who plays what role in the service/authority relationship.

Interesting and I never realized that church and the NDP were connected, and me an RC belonging to the NDP. LOL

How the heck do you fire a congregation and yes it does beg the question "what the heck went on over there?".

I did not know they were so restrictive. Aren't women on boards and pastors there. I doubt it was something like that. Far far left would likely fire all congregations who would not sanction any and all behavior that might offend someone. How crazy will this world become?

On the other hand, conjecture about what they might have done
might make for interesting reading. Maybe some indulgence with sacramental wine, or a request to change the dogma to include women on the board of directors or deacons or whatever.  Uppity women have been known to raise eyebrows and more...
