Absolutely Right!
I am the same way. Please and Thank you go a LONG LONG way!!! I still said thank you to my guy even 4 years into our relationship when he would take me out to dinner or do something for me. He thinks it's understood, but I don't agree. There is nothing like hearing someone say Thank you for even something little that I have done. It can make my day!!!

JLR First off I extend you a personal "Welcome to blogit" Secondly
Even when my mother's health was failing and her time was getting close at hand, we too used the 'Please" and the 'Thank You' It was something to help us stay strong. Kind of hard to describe really...but I feel you described it quite well.
