kooka_lives - you could extend that same sentiment to a number of other

things expressed regularly by many believers towards those who believe differently.

Why would a complete stranger insist that they love you when we all know that such an emotion for someone we do not know is impossible? Why would someone suggest they are sorry that you do not know God? These are nothing more than programmed responses, a result of their social and religious conditioning. If they were to be truly honest, no one would ever say they "love" a complete stranger. If they gave just an ounce of thought to the notion of suggesting that they are sorry you do not know their God, they would see the condescention inherent in such a remark. This doesn't even begin to address the assumptions that are being made about your life, which can only be based on prejudice in the true sense.

When I am told by someone that I do not know that they have such a wonderful life and that they are sorry that I do not have what they have, I offer them my condolences; "you poor sap, my life is 100 fold better than yours, everything I believe I have discovered myself, truth is absolute, right and wrong are clearly defined concepts with no interfering qualifiers such as ancient dogma, and I have not one iota of reliance on mythical, invisible people." Where these words are merely the reverse of the words we routinely hear from certain folks, for some reason they feel they have the right to express their sentiments and not be subjected to the converse.
