It's one of those things that sound good
but really isn't. It's awkward to give and receive gifts to/from people you don't know well and wouldn't otherwise exchange gifts with.

Would cookie exchanges work? At least one could eat those. Or drop the whole exchange idea and go back to Christmas cards! Or just say no, I can't participate in an exchange this year, I need to buy gas.
