you've just got to love beurocracy
and always be nice to the homeless... two of my best friends are hitching and train hopping across the US... they're in Venice Beach right now I believe, (They started this time from Jersey...) so I'm sure you won't run into them any time soon... but still.. If you see two young hobos and a beautiful golden-mutt named Indica, buy them some death-burgers (MD's Or BK's)
aside from that... I feel your pain on the whole rigamaroll you've just gone through. I'd recount a similar experience or two, but my blood pressure is currently in a good state, and it seems a shame to ruin that..
