What we are doing in Iraq is not the right way to go about such things. Are we now suppose to go into every single country in the world where human rights are being violated? Sorry, but we cannot be policing the whole world. Bush's focus on Iraq has left the country it self weakened. We need to be taking care of our own needs here at home and let others countries get their own act together. Besides, if Iraq cannot function on its own, then we really did make things much worse. Besides, what right do we have to force our belief on others. If they want a better life it really does need to be up to them to fight for it, otherwise it will just be wasted. The reason we have the freedoms we have is because people of this country fought to have them and so they have real meaning. Right now I really do not get the impression that the Iraqis have any such passion for the supposed freedoms we are offering them.
And no, this country was NOT founded on Christian beliefs or principles. People came to America to get away from countries that were based off of just one set of religious beliefs. To says such a thing is to spit in the face of the founding ideas of the country itself. Yes, some of the founding father's were strong Christians and made various statements about what they believed, but that does not mean they spoke for the majority. Now the county WAS founded on the idea of freedom of religion, with NO government attachments to any specific religious doctrine. Read this article here. Right now it is the fundamentalist conservative who are really doing a lot of rewriting of history, including recent history. Hell Bush keeps rewriting the facts about the war with Iraq every few months it seems.

Re: RedStatesMan
If you (liberals) are so into liking freedom and are upset when you see people's rights being viloted then why are you against what we are doing in Iraq? Does this mean that you only support women's rights in America only? Does this mean that you only support freedom in America only but yet are not willing to fight to preserve our freedoms? What part of the Bill of Rights are you not enjoying?
Also, I hate to inform you but this nation was founded on Christian beliefs and principles. I know how much you liberals hate the history of this nation and want so much to change it into some completely false crap!

I know conservatives really hate the Bill of Rights, but the simple truth is we were NOT founded as a Christian Country. Anyone who makes such a claim kills all their credibility right away.
From what I have seen Liberals are the most tolerant people in this country. We just like freedom and believe the Bill of Rights should be followed. We just upset when we see people's rights being violated and one group's religious ideas being forced on all others in this country.
The point of this post was saying that there are many other people besides Christians and that the important thing is to be as inclusive as possible. Do you disagree with this idea?

Excellent Last Comment!
"You need to accept the great diversity of our country and understand that you are not the only group of people who matter."
Doesn't this statement include atheists as well? Liberals preach tolerance, however they never practice what they preach. Accept the fact that our nation was founded on Christianity and understand that atheists are not the only group of people who matter.

BELIEVERS NEED TO RESPECT OTHERS' BELIEFS -- AND THEY DON'T SEEM TO
Christians seem to want a totally Christian U.S. of A. But non-Christians would have a huge problem with that, and they comprise about a quarter of the U.S. populace.
