Re: Happy anniversary Callista

Lindo, i understand what you are saying, you will have to learn to balance your life, it is never a 50-50 deal, so you have to learn when it is 90-10 how to balance that together.  Dont be afraid to tell your partner you are tired of carrying all the weight, lay it on the line.  That is a challenge because you have to keep it sweet, but firm.  Anyone can stay married if they set their minds to it. (Both minds).  Good Luck.

By the way, happiness will not be your reward as that will have to come from inside you.  But the reward is having someone to share the troubles in life with that way they are halved.  Having someone to share the joy with, which will doubled the joy.  And when you are older, a companion and another set of hands to help do things you can't do alone anymore.

Re: callista
somehow i keep thinking that to find self you have to lose the "me" "I" idenity.  So it makes it easier to live with other, not just my husband.

Happy anniversary Callista

43 years, ha? amazing! I have been married for less than 4 and wouldn't mind a way out!

i think the lesson you give is correct only if the two people involved are willing to make do without their respective "me"s, otherwise it becomes a spa for one and and an acid tub for the other. marriage is about meeting half way and having mutual respect and tolerance of one another and above all it is about the ability to put someone else before yourself. No wonder it is not everyone's cup of tea. Still, your example warmed my heart when i had almost lost faith in love. May your happiness continue for many years to come.

It takes two to make it work. Just as there is no "I" in team, there is a "me" that can mess it all up.

Re: callista
It's not really about the piece of paper, it is about respect, caring, family, sharing, and not expecting.
