"First off it is very well known that December 25th is not even close to being the supposed birthday of Jesus. "  this is correct.....In fact, a few centuries ago the birth of Christ was once celebrated on April 1st.  When they changed the celebration to Dec 25, hundreds of people still celebrated it on April 1st, and those supporting the change would call them "April Fools."  Hence we have the birth of two celebrations.  Not that this had anything to do with what you wrote---or maybe in a round about way it kind of does. (?)

Not sure what your point is with that one.

First off it is very well known that December 25th is not even close to being the supposed birthday of Jesus.  It is just the day picked out by the church.  All the information given in the Bible makes this very clear.

Second, I am lost as to why the idea that one group of people celebrates a birthday during that holiday season has any connection to the post.

kooka_lives - I sent my protest email to PetSmart

It is as follows:

"Dear Chairman Francis:

I applaud PetSmart for shifting from the  word Christmas in your online promotion and in-store promotions, choosing to only use the word "holiday." (If in fact this is a conscious decision)

The demographics of our societies in North America are changing, so too are our collective sensibilities. The holiday season means many different things to different people making an insignificant change to an all encompassing term such as "holidays" nothing more than progressive thinking.

Don't let those who would like to see their beliefs promoted by everyone else sway this form of inclusion. Exclusivity has existed for far too long in our societies.

And have a great holiday season."

Waddya think? Maybe not what the bleeting protesters had in mind?

Kooka, I have to agree with you that most atheists I know don't care one
way or the other if you say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays".  It amounts to good communication skills.  When someone says "Happy Holidays", you say it back!  When someone says "Merry Christmas," by all means, say it back!  People read way too much into things.
