I was really discouraged in my writing attempts until I attended a writting class wherin a moderately successful author showed us a page of her writing.  Almost every other line was crossed out and rewritten!  She really worked on polishing her writting.  Keep at it!!!

Re: saul_relative

Hmm I don't know. I had a lot of teachers like that in which nothing you do seems right. Their point is that they push you and push you to become better, otherwise why bother? That's what she told us in the first class.

Thank you for your advice!

It could also mean your teacher is a sadist, Matie. My advice: read a lot,
learn styles.  Write a lot, develop your own style.  There's a vast difference between Camus, Hemingway, and Stephen King.  They're all different.  They're all published.  They all have different styles.  Yours may end up being a Dean Koontz with a touch of Somerset Maugham, but no matter the particular likenesses, it will be yours.

Re: frankenkitty
What a great quote! It definitely answers most of my doubts.  Thanks for coming by!

Well, you know what they say.
"Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can't loose." - Bill Gates.  So if you're getting beat up a little, it means you're headed in the right direction.  Take care Matie

It can also be a healing process. At first it hurts to bring up all that hurtful memories, but then after a  while it feels like a huge stone is being lifted from your shoulders. I don't know. Thats just the way I've been experiencing things. The psychologist that I work with told me the very same thing yesterday. Good luck!
