kooka_lives - no one can say if you will have a job next year - that is the

grim reality of this era in economic history.

The road to recovery for the US economy will bring with it untold hardships for those who are the most vulnerable, that too is a grim reality but it is also something that can be dealt with by a change in perspective. Once an individual accepts that lifetime job security was something last seen during our parent's generation, then preparing one's self for economic security becomes paramount. It does not take thousands of dollars to begin this preparation, it takes little more than an unwavering desire to improve one's lot in life. In this day and age, a person can start a business with a digital camera, a computer and an internet hook up.

I hope you're right about that.

As a working class person who has been struggling to get by over the last few years as the problems have been getting worse, I can seeing this all from a completely different point of view than you are.

I need to know that I will have a job this next and the year after that and so on, as things recover. I don't really care if this is a great time for entrepreneurs. I'm in no position to take advantage of this.  And chances are the recovery is going to be long and difficult, with more businesses going under and more cut backs happening.  I know a few years ago there was not a friend of mine out here who had not been laid off for one reason or another, which is why most people I know are making less now than they were a few years back.  it really looks to me like we might be headed for another run of unemployment hitting hard.

The working man is not going to care too much for the greater economic picture here. We can't afford to.  If we sit back and calmly wait, chances are we are going to be pulled under and living the streets.  We have to be worried about something happening now to make sure we can afford to get by.

With the way Bush and his bunch of jack-asses have been running things into the ground, it is just hard to be optimistic as long as he is still in power and still not doing one damn thing to benefit the working class.

kooka_lives - I had forgotten that you have very little business experience
Don't take offence but it shows in your response. All of the other aspects of a failing national economic structure are givens, they are undeniably happening but it is the falling dollar that is the focal point because it will inevitably be the fuel in any form of economic recovery. American goods are becoming more affordable internationally, the trend is in its infancy, to an entrepreneur this is an incredible opportunity.

One and Zero

I compliment you on your diligence here, here on Blogit and in your life, to express the natural mind of Man.  Unfortunately, the natural language our highly technical brain uses to translate our experience and define existance has been corrupted with a very damaging virus.  This virus uses a simple formula that changes what is to what isn't and adds that to reverse this order equals death.  In our natural state it is unheard of to think of the Self as "not good" and that something else external to the Self as the only "good."  Ask a three year old if they are "good" or "bad" and you'll mostly get a resounding "I'm good!"   By the time they are five they've been infected with this virus and their response is ambiguous and may even give evidence of the source of the infection -depending on the level of reinforcement of the language of the virus, you'll get answers varying from "I try to be good, but mommy/daddy says I'm bad," to "God is good, I am bad."

The One of Man's existance is the Self.  The Zero we become aware of is "that which is not the Self."  Children are taught that the Self is corrupt and that something outside of the Self is perfect.  The function of this equation changes from serving, or doing what is best to preserve the for the Self, the One in everyone,  to serving and doing the will of that which is not the self - the Zero that is external but can be identified as everyone / everything else.  When God is identified as the Greatest of all Zero's (an irrational concept at the start) and is given the definition of being the One (another illogical and incomprehensible term) and the child's mind is explained as a Zero (an often and continuous antigonism to the natural mind) to be molded into a being acceptable to the Zero - at some point, the Child buries its natural language and acts like a Zero and the God Virus becomes the One.

Adults react to this mind-altering language in various ways depending on the environment they are imbedded in and so this is the hope of humanity - we cannot deny our individual Self without sever conflict and the desire to sustain our individual lives and the lives of those we love.  Self preservation remains at the core of everyone's conscious thought.  Now that we are facing REAL DOOM from the external Zero, the equation gets reset and the natural order of Life is restored.

Keep up the good work.

Hopefully the value of the dollar will be controlled enough to not cause great harm, and I might believe that was the case if all that was going on was the value of the dollar dropping a little.

But we have a record number of houses being foreclosed on.  We have the average person's wages dropping.  We have an unstable stock market that for too long has been based off of artificial profits being generated through tax cuts and cheating the working class out of wages and benefits.  We have a president who has put the full focus of our country on fighting with the rest of the world above building up our strengths here at home.  Too many people are getting by only through increasing their debt to uncontrollable levels. We have companies reported record losses for the year, and we are talking billions of dollars.  These are patterns I see no signs that anyone is trying to fix, especially the conservatives in power and President Bush himself above all.

If it really was just the value of the dollar falling, we could sit back ands say 'give it time'.  But there is just too many other factors bringing our economy down right and for too long I've been hearing the Conservatives here tell me that all is well because Bush gave those big tax cuts to Big Business, which somehow in their minds was going to fix all the problems.

I had predicated a few years back that we would see much of what we are seeing right now.  One of the reasons I held back on starting my own business up was I saw these patterns.

kooka_lives - now say what you really feel about fundamentalist

conservatives.

To wander off topic a bit, you mention the decline of the American Dollar. At this point in your country's economic history it is not only inevitable, it is necessary to bring the overall economy back to vibrancy. Not a freefall in value which can be disastrous but a controlled devaluation. I mentioned this about 4 years ago as a prediction and as investment advice to some of my friends. At the time the Canadian Dollar was around $.65 (65 cents) versus the American Dollar, today it is around $106, we are now buyers in a much greater way from the American market and no longer sellers to the same degree. The key is all in how the devaluation is managed at this point, it creates hardships, of this there is no doubt but it also creates opportunities. Evenually the opportunities outweigh the hardships, these opportunities exist primarly in newly viable export markets.

When it is considered that this devalutaion was inevitable, simply because during the Greenspan years all possible levers of economic stimulation were utilized to the max and the war economy turned on the money taps, it is important to plan for it.

Great, another idiot fundamentalist conservative who talks out of his ass and truly has no clue.  Welcome to Blogit, you'll be able to found many groups of sheep here who are as unable to think for themselves as you clearly are.

Now to answer your questions.

I don't give any credit to the Democrats for anything they do not deserve credit for, just as I do the same for the Republicans.  Credit where credit is due and blame where blame is due.  I have very often said that they are truly no better than the Republicans and that is part of the real problems right now.  Both political parties are not doing what is needed for the country. And most 'atheists liberals' I know feel the same way.  At least eth Democrats claimed policies are more based around freedom and democracy and following the sprit of the Constitution.  I never blindly defend any politicians just because of their party, which has been one of the great weaknesses I have seen with the Conservatives right now as the blindly and idiotically defend Bush, no matter how much harm he does.

Onto your next batch of ignorance.  I don't want the government to take care of me and am far from being dependant on them for my financial well being, as is the thinking of all the liberals I know.  I want the government to provide needed services that allow me to have freedom, liberty and the be able to pursue happiness.  If I am having hard times, then I expect the government to be there to help me be able to provide the basic needs for me and my family, so that I can get to a point where I will be able to once more make it on my own.

Do you really want to get into the federal budget here?  How much have we wasted in Bush's pointless and needles was in Iraq?  And what has all that left us with?  A crumbling economy that is on the edge of going over as the value of the dollar drops?  Bush has screwed us over big time and the illusions that the conservatives have been clinging to is falling away right now big time.

And yes, you are straight out showing yourself to be nothing more than an ass here to come along and ask such questions that are off topic and insulting.  You've not once addressed the point of this post, but instead made it all into an attack against liberal thinking

I value opinion greatly and enjoy being exposed to other people's ideas and beliefs, but the manner in which you asked the questions and the clear attitude you present in them, shows that this is not about you expressing an opinion in order to create friendly debate.

As for 'seeing both sides of an issue before hand', I've read your posts and you do not come close to knowing how to do such a thing yourself.  I have and do just such a thing very often. I look at the views of other people and I am very much aware of why those views are not for me.  I have written many posts talking about how we need to better understand our own beliefs and the reasoning behind them in order to be able to see other people's beliefs better and see the value in them.  In this post I talked about how for me these kinds of beliefs could never work.

And in the future do me a favor.  Bring up your political opinions in the political blogs and talk about religious beliefs here in the religion category.  And trust me, from the looks of things you will have a fair amount to say to me about my political ideas.

Thank you for reading my post.

Oddy

You don’t get it and never will.  It is sad that you are so caught in such a negative mind set and are unable to truly appreciate life at its fullest.

You idea of God Is truly eth most insulting concept I have ever been exposed to and only serves to diminish the true potential of all people.  You obvious have a deep hatred for mankind and have no true respect for the greatness of life.

I could never live a fulfilling life by your bleak and pessimistic ideas.  And I am lost as how anyone could.

I’ve tried to get you to understand this in the past, but for whatever reason it doesn’t stick.  My life would be meaningless if I were ever able to believe as you do because for me there is NOTHING of value to be found in your beliefs.  Everything you believe to be part of my beliefs is very clearly to me what your beliefs are truly about.

You need to go and read my last post here and see if you can understand any of that.

I think since we are discussing the strength of the human mind, and needing no one or nothing else in our lives, then I would think a very important question to the atheist liberals would be why do you give credit to liberal democrats in power for all the good things economically in your life.  Why are dems so dependent on the government for their financial well being.  If the liberal atheists of America are independent in their thoughts and actions, and need no one and are so strong........it would seem that we could probably cut some of the federal budget and quit spending money for all those strong non-believers!

I'm really not trying to be an ass, because everyone is entitled to their own opinion......in fact I think an opinion is the only thing ANYONE is entitled to, however I do remember when Billy was president, the libs....which I am sure contained many atheists were the firsts ones to thank Mr. Clinton for all he did for them.

I actually enjoy reading your ramblings, however you would appear a much better thinker if you considered both sides of your argument before your posted!

Have a nice weekend!

Kooka……what is good and right is God…
….the, as you say, “outside force” does not make us be good and do what is right……instead God actually is what is good and what is right……thus, when we pursue goodness and rightness we are pursuing God……..and because goodness and rightness is what makes us flourish, without it we wither and become nothing.
