Ex Turpi: I won't be content if our captured soldiers are waterboarded.  I believe that waterboarding is torture and we shouldn't do it on the prisoners that we capture but I don't believe that we should treat them like guests at a five-star hotel either.

WD: Politics is not a rational or logical exercise. The rules and ways of congress have evolved over the years, and they do things  their way. In my opinion, nonsensical sometimes.

Importantly, if we do not adhere to the conventions to which we have subscribed, we may not expect others to adhere. Will we be content if any of our soldiers, when captured, are waterboarded?

Right you are, my friend. Passage of any of these bills should come with
automatic funding.  Because then the point is truly ONLY politics and nothing real gets done.  Bastards, all of them...

That makes sense - but I strongly believe  that waterboarding should be allowed.
