Rules and guidelines have their place in this world, and they provide a very necessary service. But if those rules are not updated and changed to reflect the reality of the situation, then they start to cause problems and drama, like we've seen here.
This particular situation, while upsetting, seems to have gotten a bit out of control though - I enjoy bloggit, and have no intention of quitting the site. I'm sure most of us will miss the blogger in question, but I don't have the stomach to keep up with all the drama! I know there have been several responses to my last comments, but I'm going to leave it alone (unless they get personal...then all bets are off!)

Sira, you made good points here. I think people don't need to be around or reading for too long to understand what people are like. It can be very quickly be gleaned from reading.
I also think that someone being prepared to speak up about what they believe in does not add up to harassment. Truth is it probably just annoyed the hell out of those people who don't speak up or don't have strong feelings. Or those who disliked the banned blogger.
Yes, it is true that the blogger amended his blog after being asked. But that seems to be overlooked in this opinion blog about the situation. Personally I find it offensive that he was even asked to do that. T hat particular blog was not one I engaged with either but like you I had no objection to it and a lot of people did like it, several who have now left over the ridiculousness of this situation.
I don't understand what the obsession about complying with rules invented by a company. Rules are here for the good of us all and they need to be reviewed over time. It is kind of telling that Blogit has just introduced a whole new interactivities section for blogs just like that which was banned. There was talk here about following rules when one works for a company but we are each customers of this company and companies need to take account of what customers want and need.
Anyway, I am not sure how long this comment stream will remain here but I wanted to say thank you Sira for the considered comments you have made here. Just so you know that I and probably a good many others, well you have seen for yourself, agree with you.
