- Go to Naut on Religion...Part XII
Re: Naut.......
Thanks, Corbin. You're absolutely right - in the end I suppose it is possible to 'elevate' almost anything into the realm of the 'sacred'...

Naut.......
Though I tend to shy away from religious discussions....I have been following this series. I just didn't want to make a "nice post" or "

" type of response.......
I understand where you are coming from...and that makes it easier to follow along with your work. I will say that your stating "religion is inevitable" demonstrated exactly why I feel the environmental movement is a new found religion for secularists. But I don't want to distract from your excellent flow........uh, "great post"....

It has always been thus, and today there exists a striking example of it, to which I shall get in due course, and which should give us pause...

Tired or not, you always seem to be coming up with a good point! I think religion is inevitable, but the
form it takes (or should take) is indeed another question entirely! In the most general sense, I think its form(s) are heavily influenced by the social conditions of the day...But when those change, and they appear to change and an increasing rate, there may well appear a 'disconnect' or, in Hegelian or historical dialectical terms, a contradiction that will lead to a new synthesis...

Yes! An especially good offering in this series of posts. It seems that in every conflict both sides always see themselves as right and so their God/gods must, of course, be on their side and fighting on their behalf.

Particularly good installment, I think.....perhaps that's because it's so easy for me to follow and I understand all of it!

I so agree with you....probably the only part we might disagree on is the reason why some form of religion will inevitiably exist

. Anyway, I often have flitting thoughts, as I watch reporting on the war, various scenes from the political fronts, listen to politicians from here and there...about how the need to justify positions....and using religion is, of course, the most popular way to do that, most commonly understood....is such a human need....and how in modern times that need is woven in and out...here it is, there it is reviled....religion in public life these days is a slippery slope, it seems....it's late and I'm tired so that may not have come across very lucidly...but, there really is a thought in there somewhere!
