Good point gomedome
I think I made that very point in a post a couple of Easters ago--forgot about it.

LOL gomedome! but that sweet little nugget there at the end you added...that's damned near poetic (trust me, I know poetry when I see it). This should be the number 1 blog on this site, hands down.

jollyjeff - I though he was resurrected? Which would mean that he merely
gave up a long weekend for our sins.

My logic tells me
that if Jesus died for our sins, then we should commit as many sins as possible. After all if Jesus died for our sins and we don/'t commit any, then Jesus died for nothing.

FineYoungSinger - that's funny, I always imagined God twitching his nose
like Elizabeth Montgomery did on the TV show bewitched.
With the accompanying TV sound effect: tweedleeeink you're out, tweedleeeink you're in.
Seriously though, the exclusionary mentality promoted amongst some congregations is mind boggling. How can they possibly think that their little band or enclave has it right and all others have it wrong? Yet when I was growing up in the catholic church, we would occassionaly say a prayer for all of the misguided fools on this planet who had condemned themselves by practicing a false religion. Little did we know that they were praying for us as well.

Some serious disgust and anger coming through this one...
though I'm inclined to agree with the majority of what you say. And I belong to a very large religion that has disagreed with itself since St. Peter and still calls itself the one true church of Christ (justly or unjustly is not the issue, though I can definitely see both sides).
I do believe in God, but I don't believe that God will say, "ok FYS, you're a Catholic, you're in. Lutheran? Out. Well, did you recite that little 'O God I give up my life to you?" prayer word for word? No? Then bzzzzt. you're out." Sorry, when that time comes that we're facing our mortality, it's the life we've lived that will determine our eternity.
Pretty words? not really. How many people really can look at themselves in the mirror and see what kind of scumbag they really are? Not many (I admit freely it's hard for me, too).
This is another great post, gomedome. Keep em coming. Everyone on this site could benefit from the challenges you put forth here.
