I did some background checking, Friar Tuck, because this is a disturbing

little piece of detritus that needs to be handled with appropriate care.  I could not find anything on the Art Bell letter on Snopes.com, which debunks hoaxes and urban legends.  So I went to the internet and found this: http://tcrl.blogspot.com/2006/11/art-bells-response-and-retraction.html .  It may help.  Also, check out this article about Bell in Wikipedia (you'll have to scroll down to the part titled "Relocation to the Phillipines", which mentions this letter, that it was subsequently proven a hoax back in 2001, and that Bell not only lived in the Phillipines a few times, but both his wives were Filipina):  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Bell .

Hope this makes you feel better.

I hear you Benzinha
I was so enraged by the Hate Letter that I forgot that there are other races too that suffer from the ignorance of others.

Padre, I am told that we should not even acknowledge garbage spewed from

ignorant mouths. That to acknowledge it, to repost it, is to perpetuate it.

I wear a button every day of my life which says, STOP THE HATE, because I find it everywhere I go and it sickens me. A man told me that I should not have the word HATE anywhere on my body as that puts it out there as a word to read. He suggested a pin that said something like, LOVE ONE ANOTHER. A good idea, I'm sure.

Hatred grows all over the world and I believe that, in America, it is because we have allowed our government to kidnap, punish, profile, imprison, segregate and spy on absolutely everyone; we have encouraged people to hate and it falls from ever so many lips, breaking my heart.

Newcomers to my city, new residents, make comments about the MEXICANS in this town, as though they are speaking about mud covered dogs in a livingroom upholstered and carpeted in solid white.

They are so ignorant of the history here, that I have told a few, as politely as possible, that until they read the history of Tucson and Arizona, they can make no further comments about the races in this area, AND that they cannot talk about building a border fence along the edge of my state to the south.

We must do all in our power to keep from allowing totally and completely ignorant idiots to make us shake with rage and pull our minds away from love and kindness. Otherwise, they bring out some of that hatred hidden deep within our own hearts, our hatred of ignorance and intolerance.
