Naut: You're right.  Getting more votes is what it's all about.  Good idea on your part!  Governor Spitzer of New York is a disgrace.

You know one reason those guys (though possibly not McCain) want amnesty: they want the votes, the illegal votes, that Gov. Spitzer in New York is helping them get by handing out driver's licences to illegals! Maybe I should come down, get my own driver's licence, and vote against them...

Re: WD
Ex Turpi: You send the children who are born to illegal alien parents back to their country of origin along with their parents.  If the parents refuse to go through the proper legal channels of the immigration process; they must be deported because they are breaking the laws.  It's interesting that you state that we will increase crime if we keep them in limbo.  Many of these illegal aliens are criminals.  This is another reason why they should be deported.  They broke the law by coming here illegally and many of them break the law when they are settled in America.  Oh, by the way, the 09-11-01 terrorists were illegal aliens as well.  Don't forget that!  It's fascinating to me why the supporters of these misguided policies never mention that fact.

WD

Your article suggests you are concerned with only two ideas; you are not too concerned whether the candidate wins or loses. Some of those candidates whose views you laud have a great a chance of even getting the nomination as the Gobi Desert  is likely to become the Red Sea. Yet, please tell me what do you do with the children born here of undocumented parents? Do you send their parents back and make them virtual orphans?

If it weren't for free trade we may be in a recession right now. If globalization has hurt, it has hurt the small non industrialized countries. Why is unemployment so  continually low in the US? Why are prices still relatively low?

Yes, we should revise our immigration policies; we should impress on the partners in the global economy that certain minimum standards be met. But we must find a way to accommodate those who are already here. No one will ever be able to humanely, and effectively, get them to leave. We will be increasing crime if we keep them in limbo; and denying ourselves the input they can make if their presence is made legitimate.

You do not make the present or the future better by instituting measures that affect negatively those who are already in our borders.

Stay well; walk good my friend.
