writing a letter,
it's really giving of ones self. It's in their own hand like having a piece of someone. then they have to take the time to put it in an envelope and to address and stamp it, and if your lucky they will seal it with S.W.A.K. , that's sealed with a kiss. How lovely is the thought of that? It would be like someone reaching out and touching you.

I have found that I usually always feel I've been let down in my friendships.

We're a product of our fast-paced, consumerist, throwaway society, starfire
Friendships are like fast-food stores. Roll up, get what you need, drive off, discard anything that's left. As for writing a letter -- who does that anymore?
