PatB,

It dawned on me after I wrote this that it rhymes to the tune of B. Kliban's "Love to eat them mousies.."  Remember the guitar playing cat in the 80s?

I loves my coffee, coffee is what I loves to drink...

I couldn't have said it better myself. Love my coffee!!!

Don't mention it, .Dave, word histories are a passion of mine, it was fun

I'm definitely signing up for Skype as soon as I get a mike next week.  I have blog friends in Malaysia, Philippines, England and all over I'd like to talk to.  You don't work for Skype? Then why the hype...(sorry, couldn't resist).

The blog name says it all.  Thanks for providing me for the classical reference. I was thinking more modern day, but that makes it all the more apropos.

Richinstore, just the aroma is enough to get me going in the morning
Of course, it's not as good as that first taste!

Soul Builder,

It's even supposedly good for you (in moderation, I'm sure).  I'm not sure what Hatha Yoga says about coffee, but in Western medicine, it can lower your cholesterol.  I guess that's without the heavy cream (which I like).

Fineyoungsinger,

For some reason, your blog name makes me think of "Fine Young Cannibals". Were you thinking of them at all when you chose it?

Thank you.  I'm working on my singing. I think I'll get a guitar and play this piece in a coffee shop, like Phoebe did "Smelly Cat" on Friends, horribly out of key.

PS, I concur with Tonus on Skype.

I shall be getting it soon myself as my mum & sister and in-laws in Germany have it. Skype to Skype is free and they make their money out of discounted Skype to landline calls - but they're cheaper for the customer too, so everybody wins.

(I don't work for Skype, btw)

Okay, I'll send it.
No, it's open-source freeware.   Of course, I haven't looked at it and have not a clue what to do with it,  but it comes with instructions.  I have to wait to get a microphone next week.  One thing at a time.  When it comes to technology, I have to take a deep breath and wait for the panic to subside before i take another step.

Zena - yes, send me a link if you like - I'll look at it.
Did you pay for it then?

Thanks, Antonioni, I'll look into Skype
BTw, the recording software you were asking for is called Audacity.  I just received it today.  If you like, I could send it to you, or it may be free on the web.

Hooray, well said Zena.
By the way, I recommend Skype as a free method of contacting others on the Skype network such as me, including a video link by webcam, and if the other person is not on Skype themself, it's still really cheap to make overseas calls. I did it recently to my daughter when she was in France. A long conversation of about 45 minutes only cost about a dollar I think.

Antonio,

Starbucks is a monstrosity of corporate insidiousness, it's octopi tentacles reaching far and wide, while the humble independents struggle. Personally, if I had to choose, I'd rather drink the brew at a gas station.  It's less pretentious, costs less, and usually better.

If anyone is trying to show off their conspicuous consumption at a Starbucks, they're laughably clueless as to what real coffee is.  Posers.  To add insult to injury, now to use because they're stock prices are down (yay!), they're resorting to charging for the use of the wifi internet services, forcing their patrons to pay for what is usually provided with the coffee.  Yet another reason I'm glad they were kicked out of a Chinese national monument.  Good for the Chinese!  At least they have some national dignity and self-respect.

Joe le coffee - mmm, you can't beat it.
I noticed all the people in Starbuck's today in Manchester - how come there are so many Starbuckses, and how come so many people are willing to sit there before the day even starts? I'd rather have my coffee at home! Of course, they are buying trendiness, status, casual and conspicuous consumption. Hey look at me, I can afford to throw money away - I'm better than you! Eeek, I need to make a cup of coffee and calm down. Er, but coffee doesn't calm you down does it?!!
