Nautikos - this was one of those cases where not knowing about it is best
Where it was mildly amusing at first to onlookers, I know for a fact that the ongoing antics (my own included) turned a lot of people off.

Gome
Why do I always miss the fun? Why doesn't anybody ever tell me anything? I haven't got a clue who you are talking about! What am I, chopped liver?

Pat_B - when you think about it, what does having fewer churches have to do

with anything?

It is a criteria that in the grand scheme of things, cannot raise itself above meaningless. But this is how so many people think. Their conditioning has led them to accept the notion that the more people in a society practising religion (invariably their religion) makes for a better society. That was the fundamental premise of the person I loosely describe in this post but he was able to take things a little further than most people. His thinking works on the premise that everyone must believe in God (his version), those who do not must be harassed until they do and the end justifies any means. Sort of like an homogenized homegrown version of Osama Bin Laden.

I agree with your idiot comment. Unfortunately, I live in the idiot belt...
Working in the Quiettonw library one day, guy comes in, friendly enough, has that light in his eye. So he asks questions about the town & I say I'm new, just moved in from Seattle. So he goes off on a tirade about Seattle & the fact there are fewer churches in that state than any other. I'm assuming he means Christian churches, and think but don't say, they also don't have 27 religious channels on their cable lineup. Sometimes I get so homesick for Seattle...

A-and-B - we can always argue that someone has nothing better to do with

themselves when they engage in an ongoing fruitless effort but . . .

There was definitely an obsessive disorder at work in this case.

Could that be that person has nothing better to do.
