Sadly, the bible was never intended to "prove" God or anything.
It's only a book that holds a tradition of faith between its pages. In the end, does it really matter how much a person has read in that book when he or she lives their life like a total butthole?

Reminds me of when I was pregnant with my son. His father wanted to have him baptized as a Catholic, a religion he wasn't even practicing.
I asked him, what I think should be the most basic question, if you have ever read ANY of the Bible at all... "What did God create Adam from?"
His answer was "a rib". Actually, I think at first he said "bones", then changed it after I gave him a strange look and asked him if he has ever actually read the Bible.
Enough said.

YOU CAN PROVE ANYTHING BY THE BIBLE
And the thousands of different Christian beliefs seem to bear that out.

kooka_lives - to a certain extent this a chicken or the egg scenario
It isn't too much of a generalization to say that many atheists are in fact atheists because they are conversant with the bible. Or at least the indoctrination into a Christian religion, which is most likely in our part of the world, would include some bible study which would in turn solidify the belief that there could not possibly be a God. At least not the vengeful, vane and decidedly fallable God that exists in the bible. I don't understand how someone can read the bible and not see it for what it truly is; the ramblings of our ancient predecessors attempting to make sense of the world and our existence from a position of nearly complete ignorance.
