FineYoungSinger - where interference with scientific discovery has been a
traditional foible of organized religion, the political arena is the new area of concern.
Where religious organizations have always exercised a degree of political influence, it was always subtle. Today we have massive mobilizations of voting blocks all intent on imposing their religious will. When coupled with the ongoing trend of being in conflict with scientific discovery, this development has the potential to be far worse than in years gone by.

Makes the head spin, doesn't it?
Faith has no business dictating Science for this exact reason. This includes my own brand of faith, Catholicism, once upon a time the worst offender of this misbehavior.
