Re: Is Election To Congress A License To Libel?
I think his issue is this is two-fold - the utter hypocrisy of the left in doing this, and the liberals' making this the issue in an attempt to turn attention away from their own conduct.

Is Election To Congress A License To Libel?
WriterofLight: Although I agree with Limbaugh in this instance, he is a big boy and he has criticized people viciously in the past.  I know that he isn't a candidate but he is part of the political media and he has to be prepared to take the heat from time to time.

This is not dirty politics. This is vulgar, hurtful trashing people in general and certainly people specific that the Democratic party does not like. They are not running for office. They are way out of line.

Re: Politics is dirty?
Yes, it is. But the difference here is flinging the dirt at private citizens who have nothing to do with the "opponent." Remember, I'm talking about Rush Limbaugh and the Haditha Marines here, not opposing candidates. Is it right for private citizens to be slandered in the fashion politicians slander each other?

They say 'Politics is dirty.' and I agree. Personal attack is always part of the game to weaken the opponent, especially if you can get his or hers dirty laundry. If you have evidence and you are a lawyer, have no fear of libel. They are more scare of you as a lawyer than a politician. Will be back again.
