LOL - thank you so much! Do you think he'd notice if I fell asleep?  I'm nearly asleep on the keyboard right now ;)  I think the LLamas like soccer though, so they would probably stay in to talk to him... then *he'd* fall asleep.

OMG.. socceritis!  Hope that's not contagious over computers.. *puts on a Michael Jackson-type mask*

since I'm feeling really generous today, I think I'll send over my dad to you ... just introduce yourself by saying that you're a soccer freak and before you know it he'll sabotage your brain with a conversation of how his soccer team won yesterday and what they have to do next to win the league, etc, etc, etc ... GUARANTEED to knock you off your "high" chair within seconds (I should know, I woke up in a very good mood today i.e. before I got talking to my dad!) I think I might have contracted socceritis!!!!!!

Thank you!! (yes, good idea! Or I shall just smile mysteriously...) you know, you might already have some abstract paintings... so abstract that they're invisible? OMG I'm so funny Not as funny as the you-know-whats, though, of course.

Quite possibly I'm just going a bit loopy... been up all night setting up a musician's MySpace page for Wes, my mum's partner!  His manager kept telling him he should get one but he never got round to it, so of course my mum says to him "ooh you should get Morney to do it!  Her page is really good!" - in a moment of generosity (or madness) I phoned him last night and said I'd set it up and run it for him... ahaha... I didn't realise how long it would take to set up a musician page.. it's quite different from being, you know, a *normal* person, like myself :)

Anyway, I must stop rambling.. I've got to that point of exhaustion where I almost feel high ;)

Good job Opheliablue!!!
... (whispers ... don't tell the pubishers that you haven't got a clue what it's about! ... if they ask, just say: OMG, isn't it obvious? ... that's what I plan to do with my abstract paintings i.e. when I have any!)

Thank you :)  Honestly, I'm not bragging.. I get very excited when I get something published - I never thought I could do it... beginning to get published saved my life, literally. I usually feel like a complete loser - so when this happens, it makes me feel a bit better about myself.

Thank you :)  I don't think it's up on the site yet - that link to it was just to where I posted it here.  It'll be published on the other site this week or next week...

Thank you for your comment... I'm glad you found it interesting :)

No. Most poetry sites online and most poetry presses you can submit to don't - it's very hard to make any money from writing poetry - but you have to accept that and if you really want to try and 'make it' as a poet, you have to submit and submit and get a reasonable number of poems published - *then* when you've got a good and varied 'writing resume,' you can try sending your poems to publishers in the hope that they will want to publish a book with only your own poems in it. Almost no poetry publishers will even consider publishing a book of poems if the poet hasn't already had several published.

That's really why I submit to a lot of different places - online and offline - to build up a reasonable amount of published poems... with the aim of eventually being able to make money from it.. but you have to just keep trying.

The only time I've made any money from my poems was when one of them came 4th in 'The Top 100 Poets of 2005' - an anthology that Forward Press do every year of what they think are the best 100 poems they've published that year, out of about 50,000 poems.

Competitions are sometimes the best way of making any money with poems - some of them have a lot of money for the ones that win - and if you win a known competition, that's the kind of thing that would probably give you an 'in' into getting a book published and making money.

Obviously I'd like to have made money for each published one.. but it doesn't work like that so I just keep on submitting because every published one takes you one step further towards being paid for it.  To be honest, although money would be good, it's the getting them published that really means a lot to me.. I never really believed that that would happen.  I don't really write them to make money.. I write them because...I dunno.. it's just what I do and I feel like I write them because I 'have' to write them - they bubble up inside me and they beg to be written!

That reply turned out to be a bit long :)

I went to the site and read the poem.  It is sad but very interesting.
