Your opinion holds far more weight than mine ever could, Chyrlann.
In the end, I would hope that the victims of these crimes find what they need to become whole. I would also hope that whatever causes these particular proclivities in the perpetrators be discovered and excised from the human genome. I have children and know without a doubt that if anything untoward happened to them, I would seek the harshest penalty possible for the perpetrator.
As for politics, it's all about opinions, manipulations, and leverage. Of the three, I'm just opinionated. But I beleive it important that we all stay informed of what our elected officials are trying to screw out of us (since it is usually the power that motivates these individuals)...

I was wandering through trying to find something I could relate to in your
blogs. You are a good writer, I'm just not politically inclined...I don't know exactly why, I just can't seem to get in tune with the ways of the world; the media, politics, etc., like a writer's block, i go blank. I don't watch tv, listen or read news. The news/views change drastically depending on commentator.
I stumbled upon this news of pedifiles, predators; I was, as well as my younger brother, molested in infancy by my grandfather's friend. We later learned my mother had also been when infant. The problem with toddler's and infants (repressed) is not really the definition because they don't understand what transpired until they are old enough to understand; up until the age of understanding it's about monsters, giants and nightmares, unlike older children or rape victims, they simply live afraid of shadows in the night and sleep is disturbed to a great extent. They grow with an intrinsic, fear they don't understand and the fear leads them to self doubt and more victimizing. I know I would probably have a different opinion of the animal if he was still alive; My relationship with my grandfathers was greatly compromised when the repressed issues began coming to light. His knowledge of his 'friend' having a no contact order with his own children was difficult to understand in allowing the animal to roam among his own children/grandchildren unattended. They have both passed on now and it is still difficult to understand.
It still makes me uncomfortable to read/talk about it but it is also empowering when people are now talking openly about this issue; it aides more in protecting children now days when folks are more open to discuss it. People have strong opinions regarding the predators. My own beliefs regarding death only validate the release of the predator from persecution so it is difficult for me to condone death as restitution.

I don't adhere to the 'we become no better than them' ideology, AmMused,
although I think it a valid argument. I am not an authoritarian, a strict disciplinarian, insensitive, or a desensitized individual. However, there are people (such as these animals) that do not deserve to walk among the living, simply because of the butterfly effect. Take them out and they cannot cause butterfly effects ever again...

My opinion - one among many - for what it is worth. And don't think my first reaction was different from anyone else's. I know the horrifying results of these sick people's actions.
I used to foster children, now I foster dogs. Heartbreakingly similar. Those who hurt and exploit a child to athletes (anyone- but especially those who are in a position to influence the minds of the young because of their positions) who run dog fights. For those who think there is no comparison - I say all life is sacred. Those who would torture and kill one animal are as likely to do the same to any other living creature including humans. Those who take pleasure in the pain of others and harm those who are dependent are all the same as far as I am concerned. It is their predilection that is different-not the hard-wiring of their minds.
It is so tempting to think about what we would do to them - if only! If only their fates could reflect their crime! Torturing them as they did their victims, putting them all in the pits with those exploited dogs; well, that idea might make us feel better - momentarily. It would not take the horror from our hearts or relieve the suffering of the victims. I doubt that it would deter any future behaviour from others, either. (Well, maybe some of the cowards who fight dogs or cocks.) The result is: we are no better when we contemplate the pain and horror we would put them through. Torture is torture whether we are on the "right" side or the "wrong" side. We
do not want our minds, hearts or spirits going there! We
do not want to become them in any way - big or small! But it is tempting... AmMused

I can remember my parents talking in hushed tones when I was about six, about a child rapist that had been caught. What they did, I later learned, was something so horrible one could wince. This was late 1939-40 perhaps.
He was stripped, tied to a tree and flogged, meanwhile a carpenter's nail was being heated over a kerosene burner. When it was white hot it was inserted . . . well . . . you understand what happened. joab

I liked this post. This little girl and her mother do not need to bring this back up. It would be good if he were out of the picture as she
apparently forgot it because of the Grace of God or some such. That wild eyed thing that has been showing the tape around looks like a bad movie too.

now she's probably repressed the memories, which will probably resurface sometime in the future, triggered by god knows what kind of traumatic event. But let's sincerely hope not...

Hey, Jack Flash. Here's the plan. Send that storyline into
Law & Order: SVU (cause you know they're gonna "rip it from the headlines" and make a show that reflects this tragedy. So send it to them, see if you can make a buck (or at least a credit line or something). I really like your twist on things. It is so possible its ridiculous, knowing the convoluted dealings these sick f**ks involve themselves in...

I figure it this way,
The guy who turned in the video was working with Perp01 on a video tor a website or the Usenet. The plan was to have Perp01 go onto a bus and mess with a little girl while Perp02 shot the video.
They better check on the bus driver, too. We may have Perp03.
Alas, the video was such a piece of crap that no website would pay for it, and the Usenet ''don't pay for nuttin.'' After trying for a long time, perp02 gave up on making money from the video. But there was a problem. Perp01 was demanding pay for his services as an ''actor.''
Well, Perp02 turned in the tape to get Perp01 off of his case. Just another day in the life of Porn Stars and production people.
