sorry - they believe that their opinions are fact and only select
facts which support the opinion. We can find some facts to support any opinion. Yes I agree we should be open enough to consider other facts which don't support our views and assumptions.

People usually believe that opinions are fact and base them on facts which support that

Once again, I agree completely, but...

...people should NOT use opinions presented as fact, and they especially should not purposefully distort fact or present lies as fact. I don't think DL actually lies; I think he actually believes the stuff he spouts, but his BS filter is woefully inadequate.

If you actually followed my calculations, you would instantly see that his entire basis for dissing Coca Cola is without merit. An intellectually honest person would acknowledge this and move forward towards a real solution to the problem that everyone acknowledges is real.

People should use facts but no two people will ever select the same facts
or place the same value on a particular fact and how it relates to their view

You're right, of course, it's not that simple
Thaty's why I posted The World's Smallest Political Quiz several days ago. I think you took it. In any case, I agree that it isn't just left and right, BUT there is a distinct difference between how DL and I think, and this post shows clearly what that difference is: I work from verifiable fact, ONLY. DL works from point-of-view, which he supports by using facts where they actually are available (rarely), twisting facts where possible, and manufacturing them when they don't exist. This difference is profound, and my wish is for more people to use facts in their world view, because in the long run we all benefit from this.

Isn't life a little short for all of this? Why does it have to be left .. or ..right

nothing is that simple
