I think there are good news sources in most places
it is just a matter of looking beyond the blanket coverage from the big guys. You have to look for the hidden gems - and there are some of them in the big media groups too. The big media guns often try to keep the enemy close

My Favourite Group...
...of activist ladies, all in one Comments section! Brilliant.
Thanks for the post. I'd missed that. I have a slightly jaded view of our media but, having spent time with Americans here, and in America in the last few months, I can see it is FAR more open and challenging than almost anything that exists (allowed to exist?) in the US.
CCNews? Argee? What can I say? They'll be straight in with 'no substantiation', 'biased reporting', 'hidden agenda' and all the rest of the blah blah blah. Even if they're occasionally right in those accusations, 'no smoke without fire' never pops into their heads. And there is an AWFUL lot of smoke around right now.
Thanks again - keep writing, everyone!

That much I knew.
It is a shame that those who have most to learn will not consider all sources. I guess there are many people who don't feel comfortable with anything slightly foreign.

Ginnieb, I know what you mean.
When I saw that US Soldier behaving badly
I wanted to cry. These poor kids. Shades
Vietnam.

Beachbelle, CCNews is like GWBush.
He has blinders on, he thinks he knows all the answers.
He would never ever imagine that there is any truth
in someone elses experience. CCNews is beyond redemption.
Thanks for your comment.

Hi Cynthia
You could put articles like these in a blog entitled -Press view from outside the US.
In many cases they speak for themselves.
Unfortunately, the people who vociferously complain about the bias of the media all the time would read because it would not serve their argument.
I suggested recently to CCnews that he look at sources outside of the big US networks.

Cynthia this is a response and comment...
Of course you're not on that list! You and I are on the same page on almost all issues. I appreciate when you read my posts and comment. I also respect and admire your writings. I wish I had some of your honesty and strength, especially when it comes to handling men, hehehe. I was referring to people who are extremely judgemental and offensive when you don't agree with them. I too enjoy good arguments and robust debates, but not being called stupid, idiotic, ignorant, racist - don't know where that one came from, I've been to KKK rallies as a very vocal protester - these are personal, angry attacks that are demeaning and unneccessary. You are one of my favorite bloggers!
I'm so glad you are doing political and current event writing. I hadn't heard about the information and horrible events in your post. How terrible and sad. It's good you're putting it out here. Thank you!

Thanks for the info Cythnia..however revolting it might be...we need to hear about what is going on behind the American cameras. While in the UK we were watching several docus on Iraq that would never be shown in this country. Britain is awfully good at getting the news out.
