Nautikos - than for stopping in and commenting
There is no doubt that when you do cover Christianity, you will find out what some people are made of. Great fun are some of the emails you will receive, I still get a few from people that want to save me single handedly. Not so great fun is some of the behaviour you will endure.

FineYoungSinger - who isn't writing for clicks?
Granted, clicks cannot be the most important reason for writing but it's right up there amongst the most important reasons. Anyone claiming different is kidding themselves. Any person that puts fingers to keyboard to publish online is hoping to be read by someone else. The feedback, interaction and comment dialogue are fuel to stoke the fires of interest.

arGee - for the time being, I'm just going to take a break from blogging
I've found myself in a downward spiral of real productivity in favor doing things that should only be pastimes. Having had a few coding challenges thrown my way recently that have peaked my interest, my brain just isn't into some of the things I have idled away time with in the past.

Bhaskar.ing - thank you but there is another reality to expressing an
an opinion that no one is reading, it simply becomes talking to one's self.
I make no claims of being a "true writer" or posting for reasons that are anything other than expressing an opinion. If no one is reading, it doesn't take long before it becomes nothing more than a chore. The rewards for posting on a site such as this may not be monetary but they certainly involve feedback (for better or worse) and dialogue.

KaBooM62 - a belated welcome to Blogit
The weariness comes in from nearly 4 years of writing on the same subjects.

Antonionioni - I may take the re-inventing route but at the moment I think
that a break will probably be the best option.

saul_relative - thanx for stopping in, despite losing interest I can at
least return a few comments.
It's funny the way you put it as I have had more than a few readers that were insistent on "showing me the light". The funny part was how the "light" was always more about them convincing themselves than it was about saving me.

A-and-B - I now realize that this post sounds a lot like pandering for
approval, that was not my intention when writing it.
As I mentioned in an earlier comment, I am having trouble maintaining a level of enthusiasm for what has become simply a rehashing of the same old tired subjects.

I drop in more often than I comment, since commenting requires thought and time, both of which I am not well supplied with, lol.
What you say rarely surprises me, since it is difficult to be surprised by what is very close to one's own position. But I enjoy your writing because it is always articulate and thoughtful, and what it sometimes shows in slightly excessive spleen can probably be explained by the kinds of attacks that have been leveled against you.
I have recently started a new series on the phenomenon of religion, from a lightly different perspective than yours. I haven't got to Christianity or the other major religion yet, so I haven't been attacked yet. But I'm sure that will happen in due course...

There is nothing wrong, Singer...
With the concept of writing for money. The "starving writer," is just a euphemism for an unsuccessful writer.

If you're only writing for clicks, dump the sucker.
Writing (about anything) for any reason other than because "you must" is just a waste of your time.

I am going to agree with you, Gome...
You're a thoughtful writer, but this subject is pretty well tapped out. I predict that f you stick with it, you will only rehash the same-o...same-o once again. I really enjoy your occasional excursions into the world of Junk, and your occasional passing observations on things in general. I look forward to more of this kind of material from you.
BTW, since you occasionally write about Big Brother, check out my latest Thrawn Rickle.

No way should you ever consider discontinuing writing the Religion blog, firstly because you are a brilliant writer, secondly, not for something as insignificant as the No. of clicks. A true writer is like a flower that spreads its fragrance no matter whether there are many, some, or none to partake of its fragrance. So what, yours maybe one rebellious, and I hate calling it anti-religious, better is, another angle of viewpoint of religion, which, to my way of understanding is constructive.

I am new here
I read your blog for the first time today. I like it. Ground Squirrels are cute, I like you too. Don't stop, religion needs to be hashed over eternally. Peace, hey no peace sign 'round here!

Hi Gome - it has been great fun reading your posts.
The best solution for you if you feel stale is to reinvent the blog in some way. How is up to you, of course!

By no means should you close down shop here on this blog, my friend,
even if you choose to either post to it more sparingly or reinvent it. I would suggest that the Blogit gene pool has possibly "thinned" in the intellectual department or that maybe there aren't as many offended bible-thumpers among the new readers and writers, that maybe the older readers and writers simply have become too weary of battle (and shame on them! The lord has work to be done! Gomedome is a challenge and must be shown the light!). I may not always comment, my friend, but rest assured that, as long as you are posting, I'll be reading...

Every day, there are events that can be written, in the views of an agnostic writer. You have the writer's edge, being able to express opinions in logical manner, while being entertaining with cutting edge humor. Please carry on. I enjoyed reading the psychopath blog too.

Troosha - thank you, that's very kind of you to say
There is definitely an element of diminished effect at play here. It stands to reason that if I am getting bored with what I have been writing, others probably got bored with it long before that. When it is coupled with decreasing site activity it begins to explain the precipitous drop in readership. Mind you, we have all experienced slow days, even weeks. Readership can be built up again, I've done it many times but the will to do so must exist. Today I'm thinking of re-inventing my blogs, tomorrow that may change.

Although I don't stop by routinely I always find your banter engaging. Clearly you are an excellent writer. That aside, in this Blog you push the envelop - challenge those that say "pray for this and pray for that" or you ask hard hitting questions that sometimes "believers" are offended by primarily because they don't have the answers. Maybe it's run it's course - I'm not one to say. Maybe people have come to expect what you're going to post and the shock value and intellectual debate has diminished as a result. However, a blog that challenges robotic religion or misguided faith is a solid contribution.

[sigh of relief] See, that's the trouble with people - always jumping to conclusions. And, I'm a lawyer - it's my job to read things carefully. So, double bad grades for me. Anyway, thank G.......er......Great! Glad you're still here.

chitravathi_moon - I appreciate the sentiment but I didn't say I was
leaving Blogit.
I'm merely lamenting the fact that I have lost my enthusiasm for writing a blog about religion. It has become a circuitous rut of the same old discussions and arguments.

Gomedome, I don't like to take 'positions' (because there is always so much more nuance than a 'position' expresses and because life is fluid, relative) and I don't like to reveal anything about myself (which is hard to believe considering the stories I have told on Blogit) but, I will reveal something about myself - I love 'God' - and I will take a position - I think it would be a travesty if you left; a loss to the Blogit Community. I hope you don't go. I hope you stay. Moon
