Be gentle w/ our pasts, our real selves, esp. non-competitive selves
I know we are all successful, if we live a certain number of years, echoing God's Love to a few animals or human neighbors. All else---showbiz, political, novel fames --- really amount to little against the backdrop of human life & liberties becoming fewer, or one-sided. I htink everyone is successful as God's Gift to this world, if they touch a life. Even their own.Pace'

Re: dark_moon
Thanks for coming by.  Well, I really meant free access to information from sources. When you live in a country where freedom of speech is troubled, it gets difficult to get info from sources and we know that is mostly the material to write good and interesting stories with the juicy info.

You'll probably become fast friends and write some
shortstory together that gets picked up by some hollywood types to make a movie out of and they'll ask the two of you to write the screenplay and you'll travel to Cannes together for the premier and wear matching outfits you'll be so tight.

High IQ's don't mean
everything.   You're smart and talented!  Besides, success is in the eye of the beholder.  I always wanted to be a journalism major.  Take care

Matie
Maybe you'll see a different side to her - a more human, vulnerable side which will knock her off that pedestal you have her on.

Okay, I had corrected that typo ("success").

And then, for some reason, spell check actually brought it back.

How eerie.

It's true that every time you hear a bell,
an angel gets its wings.
But what they don't tell you is
that every time you hear a mouse trap snap,
an angel gets set on fire.

Well, I'm a (former) party girl and (current) intellectual who studies two subjects that are even harder to achieve any real suceess in (Art and Film).

As "they" say ... a person doesn't choose her true calling, the true calling chooses her.

It seemed to me that, somehow,
the blue jay was trying to communicate with me.
I would see him fly into the house across the way,
pick up the telephone, and dial.
My phone would ring, and it would be him,
but it was just this squawking and cheeping.
"What!? What!?" I would yell back,
but he never did speak English.

Very well written. Journalism is right for you. Query: .......hate to be dumb (guess I just can't help it) but, what do you mean by free access to information becoming non-existent? Moon

Matie
who cares about the Drama Queen! ... if you stay focused I'm positive you will achieve what you want ... it could be that she's taking your course (hey it's a free country) but from what I've gathered in your post I think she may be too superficial to make a great journalist! Go for it Matie - Intentions get you knowhere, only you have to go get it.

The funny thing Matie, things are not always what they seem. Your
'succesful 'neighbour might have more neuroses than you and i put together. She may be better at hiding it...
