Go to Religion in the Modern World

A-and-B - simply deleting the link is what I ended up doing
I've just been too busy to deal with it these past few days. That comes to an end soon however (by tomorow I hope). After which time I will be revisiting the Wordpress blog theme.

chitravathi_moon - I am afraid I have to agree, it is both commonplace and
because of that reality, it is believable, stuff like this happens all of the time.
I feel compelled to make some kind of statement towards material that I see as polluting the minds of children. A good case could also be made for classifying it as hate material but I will probably just delete the link and move on. Another dozen links were submitted to my web directory today, I have a million other things to do, I'll have to put off setting the world right until tomorrow

Gomedome, Unbelievable! (unfortunately, 'no' it is totally believable) Outrageous! ('no', unfortunately, it is commonplace) I am rarely inclined to make a specific recommendation to any Blogger to do or not to do anything but, I'm departing from that standard. BAN 'EM! In my opinion, you don't have to use the Copyright infringement rationale. Just tell 'em that they are obviously worshipping a false God. The proof? Would an omniscient God have to look the guy up in the Book of Life to see if he gets into Heaven? I mean, shouldn't God already know that? And as you point out, if He made everybody and everything and if He knows everything that is happening, how can He not know who Mohammed is? So......they're worshipping a false God!! Okay.....okay......all tongue in cheek of course and I'm sure that worshipping a false God is not contrary your guidelines.....otherwise, no one could submit material, right? But, however you do it, I vote BAN 'EM!!!

I think you reserve that right and should deny or take down those you
feel are teaching hate on any level. That would be my call, just like you said no to the supremicist group.

Ariala - I think the only real question is whether or not I am letting my
beliefs cloud my judgement in this one particular case.
The website is a collection of bible stories aimed at children, the example I link to is not really a children's bible story however but a slanted take on why one religion is the only true religion. (The all knowing God has never heard of Mohammad?) . . . My perspective has not so much to do with another person's religious views but more to do with whether or not this type of website content is the promotion of hate. In a subtle sense it clearly is in my mind. I don't have any problem with a religiously themed website either explaining religious perspectives or expousing a message of love for our fellow man. Even some of the things I view as ludicrous are fine if they are of common interest and do not denigrate others but here we have a site aimed at children telling them that everyone else in the world has it wrong. Do I have a duty as a web directory editor to stop what I feel is complete misinformation, especially when it is aimed at children?
I'm not going to let one knucklehead web author alter how I have set up the web directory and what sites I accept or categories I have outlined. There may be more in the future as you suggest but so far it hasn't been a big problem. I denied a white supremicist/manifest destiny website from this category (and the directory) last month. That's been it so far.

That's a tough call, Gomey. You could take religion down completely and
not face this or have a statement (maybe you already do) that says "We reserve the right to say no or remove websites, blah, blah, blah." I did't read what the person wrote, but this is a problem that occurs when you allow such diversity to exist on a website. I wouldn't be offended, as a participant, if, as a result of this one website, you took down all the religious links. After all, you could run into this over and over again...maybe you have to come up with your own set of objectives for determining what's in and what's not when it comes to this subject which is obviously very difficult and different from what you personally believe. Sorry I didn't have any better advice.
