Keep the best......forget the rest......  Only beautiful, kinds words should we have for each other and even in times of anger.... we should turn our tongue in our mouths before speaking....  My dad once said, "be careful what you say, because once said, you can never take it back....you can say you are sorry....but the words are still there."

Now, sometimes that is easier said than done.... Let's compliment each other!!   Okay.....

I never had much self esteem because my mom was like yours, and in some ways, if you arent doing great and your brother is then he is the one that gets the compliments, but this isnt really about self esteem so much as how telling someone they did good with a compliment can make them feel better, but to me I would rather have them say I am liked by everyone then I look nice.  Have fun with the family reunion

Good post LL....this is the w~a~v~e all about the town of Blogitville at
present. We all go in W~a~V~es you know. Everyone is talking about self esteem currently. It must be because we read around and gather ideas to write, but I dunno, I have found those who don't comment on others writing on the same subject. Interesting!  You are fortunate to be around others who have no problem expressing nice words and compliments. I wouldn't hesitate to compliment someone and always find the good in people, something nice to say...you know...anyhoo, I come from a long line of sour-pusses and my closest people couldn't give a compliment if it kicked them in the buttox. Sad, but true. I've grown accustom to accepting them for their inabilities; I asked my mother once, no offense intended, "Could you ever find anything good about me at all?" her reply, "You don't need uplifting, you're confident enough as it is!" I was floored. I compliment her none the less. I always email her stories & poetry I write, just to share. She'll reply once in awhile and say, "Thanks for sharing." That's it...no good, bad, ugly or indifferent. I've really had to fight tooth to toenail for any esteem I've accomplished on my own throughout the years but that's a good thing...self esteem is built from self, not others anyway. Just my two cents worth!  I have thirty coming in tomorrow for a family reunion so I better hit the hay. Have a wonderful weekend!
