Indeed - the General's report was in fulfillment of requirements set by Congress. But there is a huge difference between questioning and smearing, just as there is between having a solid grasp of the facts and spouting folly as Senator Brown did.

WriterOfLight: Al-Qaeda is in Iraq but they are there because we are present as well.  The Senators have a right to question General Petraus or any other commanding officer in Iraq.  That is a part of their job.  President Bush isn't a dictator and he doesn't have absolute power.
