I agree with most of what you wrote. People shouldn't listen to celebrities but to their own views on what is correct for the country. It would be wonderful if somebody from the real world would run for president but the current system prevents this from happening. The elites know this and want it to remain.

Excellent post .....very well-expressed and your points are right on. Also, kudos to you for avoiding the "traps" yourself. I'm happy to contribute to a welfare system that works the way it's supposed to....and hope I never have to learn firsthand the way you did. As for the celebrities......puleeeeze......and it really isn't even because of how they live, but the simple fact that I resent their using their "stage" for anything beyond what they have it for.....of course, the outrageousness of most of them would be entertaining if it weren't for the fact too many pay attention.

They do...
have to have a significant amount of money but that can be worked out if the candidate has enough backers who will help. The challenge is finding the candidate and getting sufficient backing before declaring the candidacy. And, you need a great PR rep.
Quite honestly, I'm not sure what the answer is but I am going to do some praying about it because I'm really concerned for our country with the candidates we have available right now.

So you have to be pretty rich to be a viable candidate for political office.
