Oh well, as long as you don't use it excessively in your posts, all is fine and dandy teeheheheheh.

Sure, and that's why it could appeal to everybody, but notice the great contradiction in this LOL.

Hahahahahah

Though I could say that fack kinda sounds like fag.

Some communication does not go through unless those 4-letter words are there! It is not personal or predatory. It is just for communication only!

Re: the f bomb
the word fuck as a comma??!  Impressive, though you have a point in that all use of language can be relative through time and places.

the f bomb
I've heard 2 very different ways of looking at using obscene language.  The first came from a random reality show guest who said that people only curse b/c they aren't smart enough to better express themselves.  The second came from Lewis Black (anyone who has read my blogs knows I love him) who said in NY where he comes from the word fuck is used like a comma.  I guess it all depends on your outlook and what you find to be obscene.

Re: Anything used sparingly can be effective.
Yep, the excessive use can become as cliched as that 'jump the shark' phrase. It definitely has 'jumped the shark'.

No worries. A have a bunch of sailors in mine and how did I turn into a writer and a studious person of the languages is beyond me.

Re: Matie
You couldn't have said it better. Some people think that exaggerating in the use of obscene language makes them appear as street smart or even as a people-person. And that's just pretentious.

Swear wods mark it as informal. I suppose it depends on who the writer
would like to be speaking to.  If the writer doesn't mind pissing off a large part of the population, then well, it's the writer's perogative to rant and rave in what many feel is foul language.  I grew up with it.  I guess we had a sailor or two in our family....

Anything used sparingly can be effective.
It's the gratuitous use, which is what is so prevalent today, that is annoying. In fact, it's so commmonplace, it's not even annoying -- and that's scary.

Fact is, f-bombs and scatalogical commentary is simply lazy. One doesn't think of really cool insults. One doesn't think about what they're saying or writing. And it shows a profound lack of education and decorum.

Naturally, I use such language far more than the average sailor. Then again, as a writer, I also love irony...

I'm always amused when people use f*** in the middle of a word - like fan f***ing tastic.  Now those people are very comfortable with the word.

I don't really like to say the name publicly ...

Seeing as I was actually banned from there (due to "abusive language", "excessive sarcasm" and, apparently, "being an arrogant, mean-spirited, stuck-up witch").

At any rate, if you think of popular forums involving comic book-based movies and video games ... it's not too hard to figure out which one it might be.

The other day I got out my can opener
and was opening a can of worms
when I thought, "What am I doing?!"

I personally feel, upon hearing this sort of junk coming from one whom I expected was intelligent and fairly well educated maybe even socially considerate, I know I have made a mistake in my value judgment. These people are neither, their intelligence fails in that they add nothing of value to a conversation, even good street smarts knows when and where to say what, socially considerate means you know public junking of the language is a radical self slander.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending upon your stance, these words are a part of our everyday. To ignore or pretend that they do not exist and people don't say them is to fool ourselves. Now, there was this little brunette that I knew, she would................

Even though I believe "real writing" should never include swear words

they do have their time and place.

BTW, just a little suggestion, maybe you could think about making your font a little bigger .

There are obvious circumstances where an expression of vulgarity can

convey a point or meaning vividly, but they are rare, and the same meaning and effect can often be similarly accomplished with alternative phraseology.

I've always felt that the word "fuck" (when used judiciously) has a certain crude, aesthetic appeal. (Jene se qua.)

Meanwhile, the vast majority of those fanboys (and girls) are pathetic, pizza-faced dorks who rarely, if ever, leave the sanctuary of their parents' basements. I should know, I used to moderate a forum full of them.

And most (such as the one you spotlight) can't spell, either.

"Snikt!"
