- Go to Does inner peace guarantee good writing?
good point
Conflict fuels the story, pulls us in, and leaves us hoping to see the issue resolved. Without conflict, there would be no story. It would just be a sheet of paper with words on it, telling a fairy tale story of living happily ever after and never knowing how cruel the real world can be.

Re:
This can also be true. Inner peace or not, all depends on talent.
Thank you.

I dont think it matters, if you are tortured or at peace, either you have the gift to write well or you dont. There are alot of tortured people out there that cant translate the word and alot at peace who also cant. Almost everyone CAN write...but many shouldnt lol

Re: Matie, the words that come out through an inner peace of one's self
Thanks Bhaskar.
I loved your concept. It really bridges between literature and music.

Matie, the words that come out through an inner peace of one's self
are chaste, calm, and have an irresistible appeal, and works as a balm for those afflicted with rift and strife. In that sense it is better. But for the latter, writing can be an instrument to throw out their inner gall, and is therapeutic in another sense. A good write that evokes thoughts.

No worries. It's your opinion, yet I think it's a great concept.

Plus which...
Good writing is no guarantee of inner peace. The conflicts, deceptions, "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune" are fodder for writing, for becoming fully human. Writing is, IMO, a connected interdependent universe.

This may be wrong, but it's what I think about writing...
We write so we can learn ourselves, our world. As we tell our stories things begin to jell and settle in our mind, we understand a thing or two among the countless numbers of things there are to learn. As we observe closer the world, the people and situations in our orbit, we begin to analyze and predict. Living, being, observing, writing, creating -- it's the whole snake swallowing its tail thing. One is not separate from the rest.

I think everyone is different. Some are inspired by joy, others by grief.

Nope, while there have been many great writers, painters, and classical composers, who endured much suffering in their lives - there have also been plenty, who had (relatively) happy lives -
