I think we Americans give the most because we print the most paper
money.

And another thing...
I see absolutely no need for removing that part! If the truth offends, so be it! You may have noticed that I am more concerned about the truth than about the feelings of those blind to it...

Re: Nautikos
Justi, I didn't mean to say the term plagiarism was too
harsh. What I meant to say, but didn't make clear enough, is that it's too
simple a term. The whole business of the OT's and NT's influence on the Koran is far more complicated than that. It ain't just a case of 'plagiarism', by which we mean representing someone else's work as your own...

There is already a post in response. I am not ready for another Blogit war. Even if it is true and legitimate I would be dragged to far to fast for my time right now.

Thanks

Thank you for pointing out that plagarizm may be too harsh a word. But in the Old Testament written 4,000 years earlier. In it Abram is has two sons, Ishmael and Isaac. Isaac is the son of promise the legitimate son. Ishmael is from the mother Hagar who is Egyptian and is the maid of his wife Sari. Sari is the wife of Abram and God changes their names to Sarah and Abraham, he then makes her at 90 and Abraham at 100 able to bear children and they have Isaac. The future of both children are in the Bible and this same family has been changed. That is suspect. God blesses both sons, but not in the same way. This has been cleverly reversed or at least changed.
I guess unless one would accept this as a reality it would need to be removed. I will take out that part.
Thank you, two out of three is not bad.

1) You're absolutely correct
2) You're absolutely wrong in your ideas about evolution. We didn't
'evolve from apes'. Rather apes and us have common ancestry, from
which we both split off. And all of life has the same origin in single
cell form. At the genetic level, evolution is essentially a random
process. And trying to save woodpeckers has nothing to with
evolution, though some might argue that genetic engineering is an attempt to influence it.
2) You're right in pointing to the huge influence of Biblical
writng on the Koran. I wouldn't call it 'plagiarism' exactly, for all
kinds of complicated reasons, but so what. Of course, the Koran wasn't written 'thousands and thousands of years' later than the Bible. I'm not sure about the OT, but it was compiled only about 650 -700 years after the NT. But we'll count this as correct!
Two out of three ain't bad. You pass...

Ive always thought Americans have a raw deal. damned if you do something
damned if you dont. As a superpower you are expected to solve the world's problems and butt out at the same time. I see it as a catch22.

We give to several but we give with specifications that they go just as you are talking about. I love Operation Blessing they are at work all over the world with the total given going to the work. The cost for the work is from their over all ministry administrative budget. I see what they do but we give to several that actually give directly to the need. Thanks for the comment.

You sure put a lot in just one post. It is a bit overwhelming to try and respond to, so I guess I will pick just one point to speak about. When I give for aid to disasters or to world hunger or other such things as this, I write on my check specifically what I want it to go for and send them to the Southern Baptist Convention. The reason that I do this is because when I do it that way, 100% of what I give goes exactly where I want it to go. Administrative costs are taken care of through their budget in another way.
