This article is primarily debunking psychoanalysis as a valid treatment in the world of psychology. It is also just one academics opinion trying to make his own way in the world, and his world is as an academic in the social sciences. We have much to thank Freud for such as making sexuality a valid topic for research as well as giving us a linguistic construct to explain behavior that was previously considered taboo, or invisible.

Margaret Mead has also fallen out of favor with academics as has most of anthropology as a field of scientific study. As with each new generation of academics, in order to make a name for themselves in their chosen field, the feel the need to tear down the reputations of the giants in their field who went before them. Both Mead and Freud had a tremendous influence on shaping our society and culture today. That is an undeniable fact.

Freud was a case of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Even Margaret Mead's 'coming of age in Samoa' was a concoction. Use GOOGLE! It is called social engineering!

Soul Builder, What's to blame Freud??? He studied and reported on human sexuality and behavior. Are you saying everything would be just fine if we stick our heads in the sand and pretend we don't know anything??? That's a typical response of those with a religious or conservative bent.
