There are a few more that should be on the list as well. The real scary part is that once they achieve celebrity status and attain the wealth that they have, they are in a position to influence society.

spinner - forgiveness is an inherent part of human nature which on

a practical level, is also self serving.

I could eleborate but I don't see much point. If you are compelled to forgive because you feel that some mythical being wants you to, nothing I can say can help you.

if you have no god you have no need to forgive or to not forgive

ariel70 - despite not knowing the reliability of this soruce, I tend to

think that this is the reality pertaining to faith healing: HERE

Not being able to find one person in all of medicine throughout history who can corroborate a faith healing has to say something. There is no refuting that the mind can influence the body in ways we sometimes do not understand. We can also say that we do not fully appreciate or understand the powers of both positive thinking and the limits of psychosomatically induced reactions of the human body. We can however say that to suggest a few words from an intermediary can render an individual cured by divine intervention is simply a carnival trick used to fleece stupid and desperate people.

Indeed, to trade upon the hopes of the sick to be cured is completely unforgivable.

Some undercover reporter ought to " accidentally" leve a camera running after the show.

Remember " Yo, Blair!"?

ariel70 - within all of the links in this post, there is one that makes me

shudder.

Just a few days ago Benny Hinn was in town (2 hours down the road from me) filling up an arena with crippled persons and others affilicted with various maladies to cure them through prayer: HERE . . . we can only assume the unseen aftermath, as it is never talked about. After the demonstration is over which we have to assume is rigged, it is never mentioned how many people were not cured or hurt themselves physically attempting to be cured.

Alas! Not having a TV, i must remain in the deep outer darkness of the soul, deprived in perpetuity of the inestimably succour of the evangelists that you list.

I have for some time been pondering my career path when I grow to adulthood, and your post has opened up glittering vistas of wealth untold, and adulation beyond measure!

Just think, following in the footsteps of the masters, one might have the means ( if not the energy and the commitment ) to indulge to the full all the vices of which they ( allegedly ) disapprove.

What exquisite irony! ( Pray excuse all the screamers ; bit amateurish, I know ) for the subscriptions of the credulous, to provide the means to live a life of unprecedented licentiousness and depravity!

Why, one might live in the style of a mediaeval pope ; or even a modern day TV evangelist, whose private lives one suspects would not bear any but the most cursory scrutiny.

Sunnybeach7 - it's the best scam on the planet, the product is words, water

and promises that can never be validated.

The best part of it is that the salesforce for continuous expansion is built in, motivated by more words and promises. Then if this is not enough, with the proper social conditioning the built in salesforce can be trained to ostracise and pressure those who aren't buying the product. Organized religion makes more money than WalMart.

Will my donation get me into heaven? lol.
That has to be the reason that all those people out there give so much money to the church.
Someone I worked with once, a born again Christian, gives a percentage of what she makes.  She makes a LOT of money. Can you imagine what those "churches" bring in?
