Matie - absolutely, any of us can be (and quite often are) guilty of not
seeing the folly of our causes.
But it is a fair statement to say that those who are fervent in their religious beliefs have a strong influence that may stop them from seeing clearly how obtuse they really are, Where we all my be guilty of lacking the objectivity needed to examine our own words and actions clearly, those who feel compelled to have the rest of the world conform to their beliefs are in a class all their own.

"spreading good" <--------------- pursuing the same windmills as Don Quixote did.
But we all have our windmills, right?

ariel70 - recognizing those who have assumed this position to formulate
their religious opinions is rather easy as well.
They tend to speak as if all other religious beliefs that exist in the world do not exist. They will go to great lengths to describe all that is wrong with people who do not share their religious perspective. They will justify absolutely any transgressions they perpetrate against others as being done in the name of God or social improvement and they have an inexplicable and overwhelming desire to put these inane ideas to print in a blog. Before I realized how they were formulating their religious opinions, I had always excused the smell that comes from their hair as acute bad breath.

One has consulted the erudite Miss Podmarsh, and is informed that the yoga position on your blog is an extremely ancient Tantric posture, known as " Hear The Sound of One Butt Cheek Flapping on Air ".
It is said by many ( well, one or two ) to be a sovereign specific for such ailments as The Quivering Pox, Festering of the Inward Parts, Rising of the Tripes, and other gastric disturbances.
It is also held to ameliorate the worst effects of religious dementia : viz, the witnessing of apparitions, the softening of the brain by being present at too many Sunday sermons, and above all the invincible conviction of their own superiority to which so many religious people are prone.
Assuming the posture for even a few seconds is indeed a humbling, not to say traumatic, experience, even for those merely witnessing it : one prefers not to speculate upon its effects upon the mental and physical wellbeing of its victim/s.
Its efficacy is said ( by the same two persons cited above ) to derive from the posture's ability to cause the venting of prodigious emissions of noisome and toxic vapours.
For this reason the posture should only be assumed when alone, and wearing suitable protective garments.
Does this shed any illumination upon the subect? Or do you think, that it will generate more heat than light?

Bhaskar.ing - one thing (amongst many things) that has made me wonder
about some of these people is how limited their views are.
We are contributing to an international forum which has numerous different religious perspectives from a number of different countries, yet what a person is likely to learn from this setting they refuse to learn. We endure their attempts to justify bigotry and the outright promotion of hatred in the name of their religion towards people they refuse to learn anything about. Many are in a state of full blown denial, what they are capable of agreeing to and endorsing amongst themselves, in terms of what is wrong with everyone else aside from members of their religion; is in fact the perspective of the man in the picture.

ariel70 - I love it, "Raving Religious Fruitcake Dementia" would be a good
new category and we can only wish that such suggestions be given the consideration they deserve.
We might not be able to get away with using shackles on them but as they are easily amused, a few of their favorite games such as: "Pin the tail on the Anti-Christ" or "Wheel of Rapture" should keep them from bothering normal people.

One must instruct one's secretary, the erudite Miss Podmarsh ( erstwhile curator of the Mon Blogue library ) to request that Blogit introduce another category.
This would be titled " Raving Religious Fruitcake Dementia ". Those entering this new category would instantly be shackled, or otherwise restrained in perpetuity, thus preventing them from disseminating their virus among us innocent atheists and agnostics.
Do you think that we ought to mount a petition that this project be set in train immediately?
