I have stayed away from this story, editormum, although I have followed it
from "go". I am from West Virgininia, southern coal fields territory. The Sago mining disaster hit me hard, although I am far removed from mining and West Virginia presently. I was waiting for some sort of conclusion to the story before writing my thoughts, but it seems now that the tragedy has been compounded by more death and the suspension of rescue efforts (except for the third drill-hole, which is continuing). Sadness is an inexact and inefficient word to describe what I feel, but empathy is far removed from the devastation being felt by friends and family of those miners. Great caring post, editormum.
