I would imagine followers of the god, Marduk, or the god, Baal, were exactly the same way. Of course, Egyptian and Babylonian religions were state religions, so that made it worse.
And of course, there were the Pharisees, to whom the Christians you describe bear an uncanny resemblance.
Aren't we glad Christianity isn't the religion of the U.S.A.?

kooka_lives - the title of this post says it all and may inadvertantly be
the answer to a question that I have asked in the past.
That question being: how can a person who is of otherwise normal intelligence behave the way they have over the last few years? Behaviour which has included childish games, lying, deception, slander and the constant obfuscation of routine dialogue amongst a host of other ill mannered and downright retarded actions. The transgressor maintained an obsessive pursuit of all non believers on this site, while subjecting all of them to varying degrees of acrimony. The level of disdain was dependent upon how much they allowed him to be right or left his circular logic unchallenged. Those of us who have spoken our minds expressing our religious opinions in blunt or uncomprimising fashion have received the worst of the harrassment and do you know why?
The answer is your blog title: The bullshit priority of (some) believers. This idiot actually thinks that harrassing an atheist is an act of worshipping God. That is how far gone some of these people are. It is little wonder that people like this are incapable of fathoming the rational line of reasoning that would not allow persons who commit henious crimes to utilize fictitious religious constructs as an excuse.
